Malaysia: The Malaysia International Water Convention (MIWC) is all set to run from the 1st to 3rd of October 2019 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur. Held concurrently at the convention is the 7th edition of Water Loss Asia (WLA) 2019, a specialized Non-Revenue Water roving event.

MIWC 2019 is organized by Malaysian Water Association (MWA), who has been organizing Water Malaysia, a biennial international exhibition and conference that encompasses all across the entire water cycle, since 1991. The event is supported by The Ministry of Water, Land and Natural Resources (KATS), Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC), and the Ministry of Economic Affairs Malaysia.

Minister of Water, Land and Natural Resources (KATS), Dr. Xavier Jayakumar said during his speech at the soft launch of the Malaysia International Water Convention 2019 (MIWC) that the country was expected to see its water resources reduced by 20% to 25% from 2025 to 2030. Despite that looming threat, Malaysia’s water industry was not equipped to effectively address a water shortage.

The National Water Services Commission (SPAN) and Water Supply Department have been commissioned to conduct a full audit on the current water systems in all States. Dr. Jayakumar stated “We need to sit down and reorganize plans on water resources for the next 25 years”. He wants to conduct a holistic revamp of the water industry, including upgrading water meters, reservoirs, tanks and underground pipelines.

This new direction and plans for an overhaul on Malaysia’s water industry, provides an excellent platform to build new partnerships with customers from Malaysia and reconnect with your existing customers from the region at MIWC & WLA Exhibition with more than 8,000 participants and trade visitors and 100 exhibiting companies are expected.
