Nominations for Prestigious Orcelle® and Neptune Awards are now being accepted.

USA: The Ocean Exchange, a leader in supporting the acceleration of innovative solutions for healthy oceans and the sustainable blue economy, has announced that the Call for Solutions for its 2022 awards program is now open.

Two monetary awards will be given: the Wallenius Wilhelmsen Orcelle® Award and the Neptune Award, each with a monetary prize of $100,000 USD. The winners will be chosen as part of Ocean Exchange’s annual event, which will take place on October 23-25 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Ocean Exchange welcomes registrations from innovators with solutions, including working prototypes, in materials, processes, and systems with the ability to have an impact through sustainability. Ocean Exchange defines these innovations as those that generate economic growth and increased productivity while reducing waste and the use of nature’s resources.

The Orcelle Award 2022 is sponsored by Wallenius Wilhelmsen, Roll-on, Roll-off shipping, and vehicle logistics. This prestigious award reflects the company’s statement of purpose, “sustainable logistics for a world in motion,” and is based on a broad definition of sustainability in which environmental and social aspects carry equal importance. Accordingly, the 2022 Orcelle Award will recognize the solution that creates the most sustainable value with regard to social, community, or environmental issues, whether on land or at sea.

“The Neptune Award 2022 will be given for the solution that advances our understanding of the ocean and helps minimize our impact on these resources, even while using them for human benefit. Our goal is to recognize the solutions that result in more resilient bodies of water including healthy marine life and coastlines,” noted Millicent Pitts, Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of the Ocean Exchange.

“For the past 10 years, our awards program has supported the development and implementation of myriad solutions that have broken new ground in ways that we interact with the blue economy. Now, as we celebrate the program’s 11th year, our world is faced with challenges that we could scarcely have imagined just a short time ago. This makes our program more relevant and urgent than ever, and we are proud to have assembled some of the best and brightest minds covering all facets of our work to speed development of new and meaningful solutions,” Pitts added.

The deadline for registrations is 11:59 pm GMT on Monday, August 29, 2022. Finalists will be selected by Ocean Exchange’s Solutions Review Team and will present at the Ocean Exchange event in Fort Lauderdale. Delegates representing business, academia, government, and non-profits will select the two monetary winners at the event.
