By incorporating the CEM of TaKaDu, WAF plans to enhance its water network management and improve customer service.

Fiji/Israel: The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) will deploy the TaKaDu’s Central Event Management (CEM) solution as part of its constant commitment to providing access to clean and safe drinking water to residential and non-residential metered customers in urban Fiji. Its current water and wastewater network constitutes more than 4,982 kilometers of pipes and treats and transports more than 136,000 megalitres of clean drinking water annually to homes and businesses across Fiji.

A major challenge facing WAF today is its high level of Non-Revenue Water (NRW) of 45%. The high NRW levels are mainly because of the high number of leakages within WAF’s reticulation system due to a very old and aged infrastructure built over 50 years ago. This is further compounded by the current asset management system that is unable to detect, analyze and manage leakages and NRW in an efficient and effective manner.

“One of our biggest priorities is to improve and enhance our supply capabilities through various means, so we can ensure that our customers receive a consistent supply of water,” said Seru Soderberg, WAF’s Chief Operating Officer. “By implementing TaKaDu’s Central Event Management (CEM) we are taking the next step in our digital journey to reduce leakage and service interruptions while improving our network efficiency.”

“For many years and across 15 countries, our CEM solution is helping leading utilities to have a real impact on their customer service and to reduce water loss,” said Amir Peleg, TaKaDu’s founder and CEO. “We are very excited to now embark on this journey together with one of the leading water utilities in the Pacific region – the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) as they aim to achieve these goals,” he added.

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is a Commercial Statutory Authority (CSA) established by the Fijian Government to provide efficient and effective water and wastewater services in an environmentally sound and sustainable manner. WAF is responsible for providing access to quality drinking water and wastewater services to over 154,000 residential and non-residential metered customers residing largely in urban areas and also setting up water supply systems in rural schemes, reaching over 800,000 people nationwide. WAF’s area of operation covers 18,274 square kilometers of the 332 islands in the Fiji archipelago of which only 110 islands are inhabited, and our current water and wastewater network constitutes more than 4,982 kilometers of pipes. The Authority provides approximately 136,000 megalitres of treated water annually to homes and businesses nationwide.
